As I was perusing my e-mail box the other day, another message looking like what I call "scare-mail" popped into sight from grandma. Granny is quite fond of sending me tales that have been forwarded on, warning me about walking to my car alone after leaving the mall, informing me of salmonella-laced jalapeños, telling me to call this number so the telemarketers will leave me alone, or letting me know when the next great quake is probably going to rattle California loose from its topsoil.

Last Tuesday, hundreds of copies of The Daily Aztec were found torn in half inside numerous dispensers around campus.
The police were called in the hope this act of vandalism would not go unpunished. With some effort, security cameras or witnesses could lead to the culprits.
Unfortunately, campus police had no intention of filing a police report. Because copies of The Daily Aztec are free, and the public has the right to treat the paper how it wants once it is in its possession, no crime technically occurred. In addition, because the papers were placed back in their bins, the offenders can't be cited for littering.

If you want a free plane ticket and a free pass on any customs laws you've broken, and you're an illegal immigrant, you're in luck.
Last Tuesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement began a new pilot program that allows immigrants without proper documentation to leave the country voluntarily, without being charged with a crime. Officials won't ask any questions, and will even cover the plane ticket back to the country of origin.

I've been trying to think of various (legal) ways to make some fast cash, and a recent conversation led me to a compelling prospect: egg donation. Heck, I'm not using my eggs. Why not sell them to someone who's willing to pay top dollar for them? It's a free market, right? People and organizations will pay thousands for an egg donor, I was told recently.

In a time when the "war on drugs" can be considered a huge waste of time and resources and smoking pot is considered mainstream, how does the owner of a community-welcomed medicinal marijuana dispensary get arrested and convicted of multiple felonies? As the Mustang Daily reports on the front page today, Central Coast resident Charles Lynch was found guilty last week on all federal counts for selling medical marijuana from his dispensary in Morro Bay.
